Alan Francis

Alan co-founded Gaunt Francis Architects with now retired David Gaunt in 1997 having previously worked in both public and private sectors in London and South Wales.

He now divides his time between the London and Cardiff offices maintaining an active involvement in all projects to ensure a hands-on approach with close client contact. Alan is the chairman of the Design Commission for Wales, an advisory body created by the Welsh Assembly to offer the same service as CABE provides in England, and is involved in the review of the majority of significant schemes put before the DCFW across the length and breadth of Wales.

Alan has more than 20 years post qualification experience in architecture and has been responsible for numerous significant projects including Centre Point in Oxford Street, London; the new British Council Headquarters in Cairo and Hodge House in Cardiff.
