Pera

Pera
Pera are the government’s technical advisors to corporate manufacturing businesses and their primary site forms a major land holding within Melton Mowbray.

We were appointed in 2002 to review their overall site ownership with a view to rationalising their use and identifying potential value through redevelopment. Our masterplan identifies that the majority of the existing site is inefficiently planned, and proposed that this was broken into three primary areas. We identified that the central site should be replanned to house Pera’s modern needs through building extensions and alterations combined with rationalised car parking. The two remaining areas were identified as being available for development. To the north of the central site, an outline planning application for residential and the subsequent selling on of this land to a housing developer was the preferred route. To the south of Pera’s revised site we designed a detailed planning application for residential apartments clustered around an area of protected open space, creating two contemporary apartment wings in keeping with the spirit of the area.

The three sites have each been planned out and are at various stages of planning submission and consultation.
